Jingle Bells – normale und australische Version

Jingle Bells

(Original-Text)

Dashing through the snow,

In a one-horse open sleigh.

Through the fields we go,

Laughing all the way.

Bells on bob-tail ring,

Making spirits bring.

What fun it is to ride and sing

A sleighing song tonight!

Jingle bells, jingle bells,

Jingle all the way!

Oh what fun it is to ride,

in a one-horse open sleigh!

Jingle Bells

(australische Version)

Dashing through the bush, in a rusty Holden-ute.

Kicking up the dust, esky in the boot.

Kelpie by my side, singing Christmas songs.

It’s summer time and I’m in my singlet shorts and thongs!

Chorus:

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!

Christmas in Australia -on a scorching summer day!

Jingle bells, jingle bells, Christmas-time is beaut,

oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty holden-ute!

Engine’s getting hot, we dodge the kangaroos.

The swaggie climbs abroad, he’s welcome, too!

All the family is there, sitting by the pool,

Christmas the Aussie way -by the barbecue!

(Chorus)

Come the afternoon, grandpa has a doze,

the kids and uncle Bruce are swimming in their cloths.

The time comes round to go, we take the family-snap

And pack the car and shoot all through -before the washing-up!

(Chorus)
